FAABulous Football Week 6: I Play, You Play, We All Play

FAABulous Football Week 6: I Play, You Play, We All Play

Welcome to week 6 where the FFPC format offers yet another unique variation with "all play week." This week ensures that each contender in the league faces each other only once during the regular season.

There are no head to head matchups this week, the top scoring six teams are awarded a win, while the bottom 6 teams register a loss.

Points are a premium in these high stakes leagues, as they serve to smooth the variance of head to head matchups allowing the actual best teams to prosper.

This week also marks the halfway point through the regular season. Time is running out to come from behind and secure a top seed necessary to advance to the next round.

This is the moment to secure your long term stashes that could transform into league winners and pick up any short term streaming assets that are necessary to fill any holes left by injury or bye weeks.

Now we head into week 6 with 4 teams on bye; CIN, DET, MIA, and MIN, so let's get started.

All stats and data for FAABulous Football are pulled from Fantasy Life, PFF, NFL Next Gen Stats, ETR, Rotoviz, and Stealing Signals.

A Look Back at Week 5: Ship Chasing Team Standings and Waiver Wire Wins

I went through team by team, listing the players we won on waivers week 5, followed by the next highest bid in our individual league, and finally what the average bid was for those players across Main Event Leagues.

I also included some of the top players that we did not win and shared  the average bid those players went for in Main Event Leagues.

I will then recap our team performances of the week for better and worse.

Average Bid: $1

Matchup:

Loss (4-1)

769.15 pts (3rd)

The undefeated Framemoggers minisodes team fell in week 5 suffering its first loss. A double whammy hit in this matchup, the team was knocked down from 1st to 3rd place and unable to clear 100. The good news is the team remains positioned for a top seeded finish, only 12.45 pts out of first place points and is in a 3 way tie for best record.

Last week the team was forced to compete without its star running back, Kenneth Walker, who was on buy, and his replacement, Will Shipley suffered an injury in game. Carnell Tate was no help covering for the Tee Higgins injury, Harold Fannin had 1 catch, despite KC Conception leaving with an injury, and our defense and kicker were complete nothings.

Now we enter week 6 with Walker back and the Shipley replacement rostered. We will be riding Jalen Hurts to the promise land while Jared Goff takes his bye week and face one more matchup without Tee Higgins who can now take a week off and return at full health.

681.35 pts (7th)

The Looksmaxxers keep getting knocked down, but they get up again, only to be knocked down. First, they suffered a major injury at running back with Breece Hall, then it was Saquon Barkely, but they were able to win Emmanuel Wilson on waiver wire... only for Quinshon Judkins to now suffer an injury.

At quarterback, Jayden Daniels only missed a couple of weeks and the team found Jacoby Brissett who filled in admirably.

The Tetairola McMillan and Carnell Tate breakouts in Week 4 were things of beauty, but enter week 5 and we had McMillan on bye, a complete Tate dud of a game and a Stefon Diggs injury to cover, but don't worry we have Antonio Williams... who we started over Darius Cooper.

The best news I have here as we enter the week 6 bye is that we have no players out besides our kicker.

ASU Frat Leader (Ron Stewart)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Will Shipley: $406

Next Highest Bid: $349

Average Bid: $343

CIN Team Defense: $13

Next Highest Bid: $4

Average Bid: $31

Matchup:

Won (3-2)

722.20 pts (5th)

Finally, we have a winner, because I was getting a little depressed about this week after the first couple of losing matchups. Ron Stewart's team was able to pull off the win without quarterback Lamar Jackson, as Kyler Murray put up 51 rush yards of his own.

D'Andre Swift and Aaron Jones held down the running back and flex positions for the week, as Jeremiah Love, who despite being the 3rd pick overall in the NFL draft, was inexcusably not a part of the Cardinals game plan this week. However, the real heros of the week were Brock Bowers and kicker Jason Meyers who combined for 50+ points.

Now we enter a real test heading into week 6, as this team has some big obstacles to overcome. First, it needs Lamar Jackson to return as Kyler Murray has a week 6 bye. Then we have no option but to trust in Jeremiyah Love again who was scripted out of the game plan in a blow out loss, the other RB options are as follows; Will Shipley (foot injury), Jadarian Price (IR), and Aaron Jones (bye week 6). Finally we only have four wide receivers as it currently stands for the week, three of which are rookies.

It is time for some good news on the injury front and a little waiver magic.

Bone Smashers (Sam Sherman)

Next Highest Bid: none

Average Bid: $45

DAL Team Defense: $7

Next Highest Bid: $3

Average Bid: $9

Matchups:

Won (4-1)

643.95 pts (5th)

Sam Sherman's team is running hot on matchups, as it is our lowest point total team and only lost once. This week the hot streak continued, as it was our lowest scoring winning team of the week.

The team is positioned well heading into week 6, where it has both Chief receivers, Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice, and Terry McLaurin to choose from after we get full health updates.

However, week 7 is another story. The team rosters a lot of Commanders, and its only other viable running back option is a Charger, also on bye in week 7, leaving only Kaleb Johnson, who played a season low 15% of snaps despite a Chris Brook missing with injury.

The Ascendants (Shawn Siegele and Ben Gretch)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Rashid Shaheed: $1

Next Highest Bid: none

Average Bid: $27

Matchup:

Won (5-0)

732.55 pts (3rd)

You are reading that correctly, Shawn Siegele and Ben Gretch have an undefeated team heading into week 6. Their team would be placed higher than 3rd in almost any of our other leagues, but there is another undefeated team with league high points and still one other team ahead in points.

The team was still able to claim victory after a hard fought battle in week 5. They overcame two of the week's biggest surprise disasters with Ceedee Lamb and Jeremiyah Love with one of the biggest breakout performances of the week in Bucky Irving, plus hitting on a double elite tight end play that combined for about 50 points with Trey McBride and Tyler Warren.

This team is looking great heading into week 6 as well with only Jameson Williams on bye and has managed to avoid most injury situations thus far as we wait on Ceedee Lamb updates (knock on wood). However, similarly to the team before, week 7 poses a bigger challenge as it rosters several Commanders, Chargers, and Jaguars.

Jestermaxxers (ADP Chasing)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Keon Coleman: $104

Next Highest Bid: $71

Average Bid: $168

C.J. Stroud: $89

Next Highest Bid: $53

Average Bid: $55

Matchup:

Won (4-1)

783.10 pts (1st)

Welcome the ADP Chasing team to the head of the table, because the big dog's have to eat. This team reigned victorious and put up almost 200 points, despite a last minute start/sit decision between Carnell Tate and Tee Higgins. News flash both receiving options were terrible. Luckily the rest of the team Burdened the load, just not Luther Burden either.

This team perfectly exemplifies the duality of fantasy drafters, with a perfect mix of boomer running backs in Derrick Henry and Aaron Jones, and young stud wide receivers, thank you Puka Nacua and Malik Nabers. We followed another old familiar mantra this week in playing tight ends against Arizona, and even managed to hit on kicker and defense.

This formula led to fireworks, and heading into week 6 the team still feels explosive as it has a deep roster with plenty of options available across positions. This was one of my favorite teams to start the season and there is plenty to be excited about in the weeks to come.

This loss felt devastating for my team, especially after such a promising performance the week prior. This team really needed both points and the win and got nothing. This is one of those matchups where nothing went right.

We started the week leaning on Cowboys defense and Ceedee Lamb. In hindsight maybe placing so much of our livelihood on the Cowboy's defense was a recipe for disappointment, however the Ceedee Lamb disaster was not a complete shock.

Once we got news Justin Jefferson was playing we made the decision to sit Josh Downs for DK Metcalf, neither of which were great options, but at least Jefferson and Aaron Jones showed up on the Vikings.

Harold Fannin had only one catch, which was another devastating blow, but we remained positioned well despite these challenges.

Then we had the Sunday night game, and watched the Cardinals get blown out and became the next victims of the Jeremiyah Love game script rug pull. Of course our competition had all their players, who did absolutely nothing to this point, score towards the end of their games.

Ultimately, we headed into Monday night in a head to head matchup of Josh Allen versus Davante Adams. I think we all know Josh is a terrible father at this point and the rest is history.

There will be better days ahead, but time is running out.

Crankular (CrakRok)

Winning Waiver Bids:

The CrakRok team has been a rollercoaster this year, starting off undefeated before suffering a plethora of injuries; Puka Nacua, Terrance Ferguson, Jordyn Tyson, Ja'Kobi Lane, and DeVonta Smith. The injury trend continued into this week with Will Shipley, Tre Harris, T.J. Hockenson, and TreVeyon Henderson. Yet, this team still managed to come away with a win this week, as we all watched Drake Maye return to glory.

Despite all this poor injury luck the team should be able to roster a competitive lineup in week 6 as it stands, as most of the byes are in later weeks, where there remains hope we can get some injured players to return soon.

The Stat Chasing team is a fighter, as it put up a solid point total and win in week 5, keeping the team alive. More great news for the team is it has no players on the week 6 bye and should be operating at full strength this week.

The team also secured some nice waiver options in Germie Bernard and Dameon Pierce, who could become relevant with the injuries in front of them.

I am rooting for a big point score this week which could turn everything around for the boys.

I wish I could tell you more positive news about Jakob's team in the spite draft. The best I have is at least it is not in last place and only has Tee Higgins on bye in week 6. I don't know if there is enough time left in the short FFPC season for Jakob to make up ground, but he is still fighting hard.

Pete and Davis went head to head in the week 5 Spite draft and it was Davis who emerged the victor following in the footsteps historic figures as Alexander the Great. Let's not sugar coat things as neither team was great here, Davis's team was just less of a disappointment.

I am a little worried about Pete's team heading into the week 6 bye at running back, as Chase Brown is out leaving no options to feel confident in this week. Davis fares a bit better and only misses out on his top receiver and Miami guys. I will continue to keep the popcorn hot as we watch the rest of the spite draft unfold.

The good news for Pat Kerrane's team is it is the best team of the Spite draft for the guys, the bad news is it is still not a top seeded team.

Pat was without Patrick Mahomes and Kenneth Walker this week, which predictably hurt his score. Then both Kerrane's running backs left their games with injuries and we have already discussed the Ceedee Lamb disaster.

Heading into week 6 Kerrane only has Chris Bell on bye, however he is in desperate need of another running back behind Kenneth Walker after losing both Will Shipley and Quinshon Judkins. This week is shaping up to be a waiver wire hunting type of week.

The high stake's team managed to secure a win at a crucial time despite Jeremiyah Love, Tre Harris, and Dallas defense only combining for 6.6 points. Matthew Stafford, Garrett Wilson, and Sam LaPorta did enough to bring home the win.

Looking ahead to week 6 and I am a little scared, two of the team's top receivers are on bye, along with tight end Sam Laporta. This team cannot afford any down weeks to remain competitive.

I am very proud of my Big Gorilla team which has battled hard every week to get to this point in 3rd place. This team has lost some good soldiers on the injury front, yet we keep fighting.

This week our expectations were low with Kenneth Walker on bye, as we scrambled to figure out what we were going to do at RB2. None of our options felt great, but my Go Bills partner wanted to pick up Ty Johnson off the waiver wire as an option. I agreed that he a was viable option to consider.

We had deep discussions over the week, in which I thought Kaleb Johnson was likely the best with Chris Brooks set to miss the game. Nick, however, was animate that this was not the case. Nick continued to make a case for Ty Johnson in which he saw a favorable game script unfolding against the Rams coupled with some receiving floor.

We ultimately decided to follow Nick's gut, as I agreed Johnson's role remained uncertain and Green Bay's offensive line has been a disaster. The Ty Johnson call proved to be a slam dunk as he put up 11.2 points which secured our matchup win and added to our total points.

Week 6 Waiver Priorities for FFPC

Below are all the players I like for Week 6 for FFPC leagues. I break down all players into tiers with FAAB suggestions, followed by player analysis and a list of players to consider dropping.

This article is also intended to provide value for those of you who play in deeper league formats and dynasty leagues.

Please note that with a drop list, you do not have to drop these players and all suggestions are general as it is impossible to cover all nuances of individual leagues.
