FAABulous Football Week 7: Cause I'm Just A Slappy Drafter

FAABulous Football Week 7: Cause I'm Just A Slappy Drafter

Welcome to week 7 everyone, we did it, we survived "all play" week! Week 6 concluded as a low scoring fantasy week overall; however, some of the week's best performances belonged to some of our favorite slappy picks.

As we begin this week in review, let's begin at the most logical starting place.... "His name is Noel I draft a whole lot of him. He fits quite well, I got a room full of dusty vets. Oh how he rocks when he's in the slot, but he did see the field and he did score 20.7 damn points for me!"

Then we had Bhayshul Tuten finally succeed in scoring multiple touchdowns that were not called back. Followed by another memorable performance by last week's waiver darling, Germie Bernard, who exceeded expectations with a stellar fantasy performance of 25.7 points rewarding those who spent big and remembered to start him (along with side kick users drafting best ball teams).

Those were not the only Leg Up dandies that hit big in week 6. We saw breakout performances from first round rookie Omar Cooper Jr., who the side kick never wavered on, despite unfavorable reports coming out of the Jets training camp.

Finally, we can end with the Travis Hunter's coming out party, where he posted a big fantasy performance while only running 16% of routes, as he saw a massive 57% TPRR!

Yes, week 6 was a good one, "Cause I'm just a slappy drafter, yeah I'm just a slappy drafter, baby."

Now as we head into week 7 we have another four teams on bye with WAS, JAX, BUF, and LAC to plan around, in addition to the injury chaos that continues to wreck havoc on our teams, and so we begin diving into another FAABulous waiver wire week.

All stats and data for FAABulous Football are pulled from Fantasy Life, PFF, NFL Next Gen Stats, ETR, rbsdm.com, Rotoviz, and Stealing Signals.

A Look Back at Week 6: Ship Chasing Team Standings and Waiver Wire Wins

I went through team by team, listing the players we won on waivers week 6, followed by the next highest bid in our individual league, and finally what the average bid was for those players across Main Event Leagues.

I also included some of the top players that we did not win and shared  the average bid those players went for in Main Event Leagues.

I will then recap our team performances of the week for better and worse.

Blake Grupe: $1

Average Bid: $2

Matchup:

Won (5-1)

905.55 pts. (2nd)

The Framemoggers bounced back from last week's loss to log a win in all play week, moving them into 2nd place, only trailing 1st by 29.55 points. The boys were forced to add a quarterback after Jalen Hurts was ruled out with blood clots and the only other quarterback rostered was Jared Goff, who was on a week 6 bye. The wire in this league was more bare than others, and Deshaun Watson felt like the best available, and he had an underwhelming performance to say the least.

The other big waiver moves for the team this week were churning our defense and kicker. The first waiver run finished with us missing on the best defenses of the week, but luckily taking a shot on the Saints paid off. Unfortunately, our kicker was not so lucky and left the game with a torn ACL.

The team was able to overcome these difficulties, along with a Juwan Johnson goose egg, with a strong running back performance by Christian McCaffrey and Kenneth Walker. If you look at some of the other running back rooms we were forced to roll out this week, you will see what a luxury it was to have two studs at the position.

Looking ahead to this week and the team has no week 7 byes, but does face some spots in week 8 that I will be looking to get ahead of with the Saints and 49ers.

Looksmaxxers (Ship Chasers First Live Draft)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Jaleel McLaughlin: $6
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $28

Harrison Butker: $2
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $9

IND Team Defense: $2
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $10

Matchup:

Won (3-3)

828.25 pts. (4th)

Looksmaxxers was able to move up into a top 4 position from 6th place last week after a strong all play performance, scoring the 2nd most points in the league. I mentioned last week that this team had no week 6 byes, but the team did have its share of injuries to navigate, especially at the running back position.

The team had Saquon Barkley, Breece Hall, and Quinshon Judkins, all out with injuries and Kaleb Johnson, who lost his role the week prior. These injuries forced us to make some waiver moves, in which we picked up Jaleel McLaughlin to cover Judkins. Ultimately, our starting running backs comprised of Emmanuel Sanders and Jaleel McLaughlin for the week. Sanders was a disappointment with only 52 yards, while McLaughlin was able to salvage a few more points given his solid receiving usage with four catches.

Luckily, the team's wide receivers all came through with solid performances, as did George Kittle at tight end and Harrison Butker at kicker.

Looking into this week, a similar dilemma at running back exists unless we get some luck from the injury Gods and we have 3 Commanders on bye with Jayden Daniels, Stefon Diggs, and Antonio Williams. In week 8 it is only George Kittle we will be left without, but Kittle has been a strong producer this season and will be missed.

ASU Frat Leader (Ron Stewart)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Pierre Strong: $8
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $11

Jaleel McLaughlin: $14
Next Highest Bid: $4
Average Bid: $28

Tyler Huntley: $1
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $1

IND Team Defense: $1
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $10

Matchup:

Loss (3-3)

829.95 (5th)

I told you last week that ASU Frat Leader had some big obstacles to overcome this week, and ultimately this team succumbed to a loss during all play week needing 6.86 more points to finish with a win.

The thing about this loss is it was not because of the perceived difficulties at quarterback and running back, where we replaced Lamar Jackson with Snoop Huntley and found Pierre Strong on waivers to replace Jeremiyah Love once he was ruled out. No, this loss was at the hands of our supposed studs, where the A.J. Brown return saw our expectations drop just like every pass he was thrown. Denzel Boston only had one reception, and a highly projected Colts defense lost to the Titans ending with only 2 pts.

The team only has 2 Commander wide receivers on bye in week 7 and no players on bye in week 8. Hopefully we can get Lamar Jackson to return and see some of these rookies step up their game in the coming weeks.

The Ascendants (Shawn Siegele and Ben Gretch)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Mike Gesicki: $2
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $38

Harrison Butker: $23
Next Highest Bid: $12
Average Bid: $9

Matchup:

Won (6-0)

865.85 pts. (1st)

The Ascendants remain undefeated with a perfect record after all play week, as they narrowly escaped defeat by only 3 points.

This is another matchup where some of the biggest flyers came through and it was the perceived safer options that under performed. Bucky Irving was brought back to earth after a monster performance the week prior. While it felt like the team was being forced to start Blake Corum at RB2 after losing Jeremiyah Love and Bill Croskey-Merritt to injury, Corum had a nice hit with 14 points. This was another team that fell victim to a lackluster Browns game with a Denzel Boston dud, but they did actually start Tre Tucker on a week where he hauled in a 44 yard TD late in the fourth quarter, which helped alleviate some of the fantasy woes.

This team does have several players on bye in week 7, however it still has their starting lineup ready to roll, aside from defense, and things settle back down in week 8 with only C.J. Stroud on bye.

Jestermaxxers (ADP Chasing)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Dylan Sampson: $56
Next Highest Bid: $38
Average Bid: $71

CAR Team Defense: $7
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $3

Matchup:

Won (5-1)

917.60 pts. (1st)

The Jestermaxxers are another top team that is currently in 1st place and claimed a win by only 6.5 points during all play week. This team was lucky to survive the Big Dog dud week, a wrong start/sit decision between Keaton Mitchel and J.K. Dobbins, and middling Patrick Mahomes and Puka Nacua performances.

This week sets up well as the team will get back Tee Higgins and Sam Laporta and only has a few ancillary pieces on bye in week 7. However, in week 8 they will be without Malik Nabers who has been lighting up fantasy over the past couple of weeks.

Cortisol Spikers (My team)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Dylan Sampson: $58
Next Highest Bid: $55

KC Team Defense: $24
Next Highest Bid: $21
Average Bid: $35

Tyler Bass: $1
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $1

Matchup:

Won (3-3)

849.15 pts. (6th)

I was sweating this matchup hard all week and ultimately came away with a win to finish with the 2nd most points in the league for all play week.

This entire matchup was a roller coaster, getting a TD from Dameon Pierce felt like a gift. If you watched Ship Chasing this week and tailed the pick'em you had a front row seat to the DK Metcalf experience. During that early window we had some big disappointments with Josh Downs and Harold Fannin.

During the afternoon our kicker and defense came through clutch, but we lost Davante Adams to a brutal hamstring injury for what might be the rest of the season. The evening night cap being the Cowboys was another emotional event for me, where it appears unfathomable that the Cowboys let another team use a similar blue print as Tampa Bay after a 10 day break to stifle the offense with no adjustments made. Ceedee Lamb got there on receptions, barely, but the boys were dinking and dunking and not able to push the ball down field in this one.

Heading into Monday night the team was still in the loser bracket with Jayden Daniels and Rachaad White to go. The team in front of us had the lead with the San Fransico kicker, and a couple other teams leading had several strong plays of their own in Brock Purdy, Christian McCaffrey, George Kittle, Mike Evans, and Terry McLaurin. We fell on the right side of luck here, as not only was the win pivotal to staying alive for the rest of the season, but points are a premium as well, and we need lots of points.

The team remains in 6th place heading into week 7, but is in position to move into a spot to make a playoff run with another couple strong performances. This week my team has several Commanders pieces on bye and some injury holes that need some love, but there is very little bye week chaos after this week.

Crankular (CrakRok)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Brandin Cooks: $12
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $21

Dylan Sampson: $48
Next Highest Bid: $20
Average Bid: $71

KC Team Defense: $13
Next Highest Bid: $4
Average Bid: $35

Matchup:

Won (4-2)

884.55 pts. (2nd)

The CrakRok team had a fantastic all play week and finished as the highest scoring team in the league, propelling them back into 2nd place. Only Bucky Irving and Tyler Higbee had disappointing performances, and the rest of the players hit the middle to top end of their projections here. The biggest start/sit decision of the week was at the quarterback position, but ultimately both finished with solid performances.

Heading into the next few weeks this team should continue to get stronger as it gets some players returning from injury. The biggest challenges this team faces are in week 11 with a lot of players on bye that week and only having $153 FAAB dollars remaining.

Stat Chads (Stat Chasing)

Winning Waiver Bids:

KC Team Defense: $36
Next Highest Bid: $29
Average Bid: $35

Matchup:

Won (3-3)

843.45 pts. (6th)

The Stat Chads team is another one dependent on points to move up in standings and was able to finish at the top of their league during all play week.

The guys wanted to play Germie Bernard, which payed off big. Who could have predicted that Dameon Pierce and Jaylin Noel would have been the better options over Bucky Irving and Josh Downs this week, as their bench was on fire.

The guys have Trevor Lawrence, Brian Thomas Jr. (who cares), and Keaton Mitchell on bye this week, which feels fine, as the bigger challenges are weeks 9 and 10 for the Stat Chads.

Gays of Hormuz (Jakob Sanderson)

Audric Estime: $2

Average Bid: $2

KC Team Defense: $32
Next Highest Bid: $28
Average Bid: $35

Matchup:

Won (2-4)

713.40 pts. (10th)

This may have been Jakob's best performance of the season in the Spite Main, as he finished with the 2nd most points in the league and moved from 11th to 10th place. C.J. Stroud, Christian McCaffrey, and Malik Nabers combined with a breakout Colston Loveland performance (better late than never), was all that was necessary. Just imagine the possibilities if Loveland can continue on this path...

Subhuman (Pete Overzet)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Charlie Kolar: $79
Next Highest Bid: $3
Average Bid: $1

Eddy Pineiro: $2
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $2

Matchup:

Loss (2-4)

792.05 pts. (9th)

Pete had a losing performance during all play week in the Spite main. Several of his best players had a week 6 bye and he was left with no great running back options after Jeremiyah Love was ruled out (or before honestly). Pete also benched the waiver wire king of the week in Germie Bernard, who paid dividends to those who believed in the rookie after he passed the Aaron Rodger's test. I look forward to Pete having a bounce back performance in week 7.

CAR Team Defense: $1
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $3

Tyler Bass: $1
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $1

Matchup:

Won (3-3)

802.60 pts. (7th)

While Davis's team fell short of Jakobs during the all play week, he did still come away with a win. I admit I was worried about Davis's quarterback situation after losing Jalen Hurts, but Michael Penix filled in admirably, pulling it out at the end after a rocky start. Bhayshul Tuten finally had touchdown scores that stuck and Luther Burden was another Bear who showed up to the party this week. Davis will need to work on his quarterback position and maybe relegated to streaming matchups every week for the foreseeable future.

Spite Chasing (Pat Kerrane)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Zonovan Knight: $2
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $13

Efton Chism: $2
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $19

Corey Kiner: $1
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $31

Matchup:

Loss (3-3)

833.80 pts. (6th)

It brings me no pleasure to announce that Pat had the worst all play performance of the guys in the spite main. Pat's team has been the top performer up to this point and remains highest in the league standings.

Pat was another team with a giant gaping hole this week at the RB2 spot after losing Quinshon Judkins, however, Bam Knight turned out to be a fantastic waiver plug and was not the cause of the loss.

Meanwhile, Ladd McConkey, Harold Fannin, and Makai Lemon cannot make the same claim... this set of players hurting Pat feels very ironic, all he is missing is Drake Maye. The kicker and defense also did Pat no favors here, and side kick darling Omar Cooper was unable to help from the bench.

The good news for this week is Pat cannot be tricked into another Ladd McConkey start and he gets Josh Jacobs back.

Shark Jumping (5K Big Payback w/ Mike Leone and Ben Gretch)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Darnell Washington: $1
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $15

Efton Chism: $36
Next Highest Bid: $13
Average Bid: $19

Matchup:

Won (3-3)

778.60 pts. (9th)

The 5k high stakes league is a self contained league and not a main event, and did not feature an all play week. Shark Chasing was able to claim a win, even with some big busts in Marshawn Lloyd and Makai Lemon in the starting lineup.

This team will continue to need some help at the running back position this week without Bhayshul Tuten. I am begging you not to stat Lloyd again, hopefully with Josh Jacobs being back it is enough to remove him from contention after dropping two complete bombs for the guys in this league. I feel like overall week 7 should be an improvement for the team as they will get back Justin Jefferson, Amon Ra St. Brown, and Sam LaPorta off their week 6 bye.

Cos and Steph (Big Gorilla)

Winning Waiver Bids:

Omar Cooper: $2
Next Highest Bid: $1
Average Bid: $24

Ja'Kobi Lane: $59
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $78

Dameon Pierce: $4
Next Highest Bid: none
Average Bid: $104

Matchup:

Won (4-2)

887.25 pts. (3rd)

My big gorilla team had another fantastic fantasy performance during all play week, coming away with a win and 3rd most points in the league. The past two weeks were setup to be our biggest challenges and making it through them with solid points has me feeling FAABulous.

Now the team is set to get back Joe Burrow and Tee Higgins and only has the Commander's recievers on bye in week 7. We had two massive waiver wire wins to secure Ja'Kobi Lane and Omar Cooper this week getting ahead of the Lamar Jackson return and breakout Cooper performance. The team will also soon get back 1st round rookie Jordyn Tyson ... the best for this team is yet to come!

Week 7 Waiver Priorities for FFPC

Below are all the players I like for week 7 for FFPC leagues. I break down all players into tiers with FAAB suggestions, followed by player analysis and a list of players to consider dropping.

This article is also intended to provide value for those of you who play in deeper league formats and dynasty leagues.

Please note that with a drop list, you do not have to drop these players and all suggestions are general as it is impossible to cover all nuances of individual leagues.
